Quick catch up

Well been so busy last few days that I’ve not been near a PC.

On Friday I had an acupressure chair massage - amazing. The pain in my neck disappeared and I was so chilled. Best money I ever spent. Will definitely be booking again, may go for an indian head massage next time.

Friday night I was blowing up balloons for Kieran’s gym club open day on Saturday and on Saturday spent 9-3pm at the gym. We had 103 kids come through to have a taster session and they all had to be booked in. Parents & grandparents, brothers and sisters all came along so the gym was packed, and hot and sweaty. Kieran was there with other gymnasts taking the groups between equipment and giving demos. I was shattered afterwards.

And then it was DR WHO! Wooooooo - Daleks are back. It started quite scarey - Kieran even grabbed a cushion so it must have been good. He wanted to know why the Dr has suddenly switched to blue suit. But its a two parter - so have to wait for next week for the best bit. The ratings were down this week, apparently due to the good weather, but I suspect it doesn’t help that the BEEB change the time each week and its hard to plan, or remember when its on. I had to keep checking to make sure we didn’t miss it.

Sunday was a major chill day and we did just about nothing. Sam, Kieran’s friend came round and they played on the PC but apart from that we stayed low. I had a lovely nap in the afternoon!

Today was the first day at my new job. Young People Development Manager, North (cover Peterborough and North Cambs) for YMCA. Lots of infof to take on board but everyone in the office is lovely. I’m sure I’ll settle in quickly.

Full Governors meeting at Kieran’s school tonight. Luckily his firend’s mum was able to bring him back from trampoline class or he would have been sitting in the gym for an hour waiting for me. He’s such a good lad - except when it comes to doing homework straight away or tidying his room!!!!Innocent

Am tired due to info overload, but still hoping to stay awake for Prison Break - better hit record just in case.

Oops

How could I have forgotten that the lovely David Tennant had his birthday yesterday!  The best Dr Who since Tom Baker (Jon Pertwee comes 3rd in my book but I cant decide between Christopher Eccleston or Patrick Troughton for 4th).

Doing my bit…

Did my bit recycling today.  Took a load of stuff to a charity shop (community shop Compass), got another collecting more bits (Salvation Army) and had someone come from freecycle to have the petrol mower.  Also went to the bottle bank (whilst on my way back from lunch so didn’t add too much to the old carbon footprint).

But I also had to do a trip to the tip.  I was very careful to get rid of stuff that was broken, rotten, rusted and smelly, but its amazing how much useful stuff people throw away.  There was a whole collection of bikes that had been rescued from the skips that people could have found homes for.  There were black plastic rubbish bins - the kind we used to use before the council insisted on wheelie bins- bits of furniture, bird cages etc.  Decent stuff not broken. The kind of thingsomeone would want.  I know its a pain trying to sell stuff through free ads, even online, or through ebay.  I’ve never had much success, there’s always a delay, postage with ebay & I can never get to the post office in time.  Hence I use freecycle - I joined the Peterborough one but they are all over the place.  Not only have I got rid of loads of stuff - and very quickly - but I have also got stuff I have wanted.  We got Kieran’s PC desk from an ad on there.  Plus I advertised for audio tapes for Bunty and had people respond, seeds & tools for work.  You’d be amazed at what people have stashed away that they only remember they have because you put on and ad.

So try freecycling -  go to www.yahoogroups.com and type in freecycle & your town (make sure the result is UK as there is a Peterborough in Ontario as I discovered!).  Join up & subscribe to receive the updates.  If you dont get the updates you need to keep checking and things go very quick.  Plus if someone puts on a wanted ad you will see it quickly & be able to respond if you have what people are looking for.  Give it a try.

For those who know what I’m like I resisted climbing into the skips at the tip and coming away with half of it.  The aim had been to clear the garage not fill it back up again - STIG is under controlWink

Dear Liane

Entitled “Dear Liane” as at this moment Liane is the first “friend” to sign up & read this. Hopefully more of you will soon and will read this later.

Had my leaving lunch at FROGlife today - Bacon & cheese on chicken with garlic ciabatta, salad & ….chips - haven’t had proper chips for a while, usually have those stick thin McD ones. (Are they made thin to send a subliminal message that they wont make you fat?). Anyway lunch was lovely, everyone was there and I got a house plant (I promise I will really try to keep it alive!) a very cute & cuddly pooh bear & WHSmiths voucher. Thanks ladies & Daniel.Laughing

Everything is done for work now & I just have a couple more days before I start at YMCA. Hope I dont miss the mud too much - or ISSP (the darlings!!!).

Todays musings

Last night was a choice of Prison Break or Bones - Prison Break won. Only trouble was I spent most of the night dreaming of ways to help them escape!

Today started off a bit chilly and overcast but soon picked up. I had a lot to do this morning though as Kieran’s gymnastic’s club has an open day on Saturday. As Welfare Officer I had to make sure all our policies are up to date and produce lots of posters for the gym. I also had to plan all the volunteers.

If anyone is around its at Jack Hunt School on Sat 21 April,10am to 2pm drop in and have a go.

Also planted some herbs today in pots - lets just hope I manage to keep them watered so they dont die off too soon!

Poor Kieran is back at school now and straight back into homework - writing yet another gruesome poem, he’s obsessed with death & blood I’m sure.Frown
